PARTICIPATION: this highly experiential teacher training is designed for those who have some experience of attending yoga classes and are familiar with a range of basic yoga postures and practices.  The course may also be suitable for existing yoga teachers who want to refresh their foundational knowledge or examine different schools/styles and approaches for a more rounded and inclusive experience of contemporary Yoga.  For fitness and other health professionals who already have an understanding of functional anatomy and physiology, this training is an excellent addition to your portfolio and will enable you to develop a holistic approach to your work and greatly widen your clientele.

COURSE OVERVIEW:  you will learn to teach and adapt safe and effective contemporary yoga classes for a wide variety of students/clients. Teaching and learning takes place 3:1 in order to support individual projects.  Contact hours are balanced between practical and theory with teaching practice introduced progressively so that students feel confident to teach quite early on in the course.

COURSE HOURS: this 200 hour diploma course comprises of 12 full contact days (1 intensive day per month).  Non-contact hours are focused around attending a wide variety of classes, self-practice, directed reading and short work-sheets.  You will not be required to write essays on yoga philosophy as the focus of this course is to understand yoga as an experiential science in order to teach classes and private clients from a place of authenticity and confidence.

ASSESSMENT: each student will be examined teaching an hour class and will also be given feedback by an external verifier.  A portfolio of evidence which includes your exam class plan will be presented and discussed before the examination.  In order to obtain the full diploma a Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology course or equivalent must be successfully completed through another training provider.

REGISTRATION & INSURANCE: both teacher trainings can be registered with the Independent Yoga Network (www.independentyoganetwork.org) and are fully insured through Wellbeing Insurance (www.wellbeinginsurance.co.uk).
